Event: Hands on – Minds on Astronomy
Event Description: An introduction to the observable objects in our galaxy and beyond. Learn about NASA’s four Great Observatories and other contributions to our knowledge of the Universe. Find out how exploring space across the entire electromagnetic spectrum (not just visible light) has led to new understandings and surprising discoveries. Numerous suggestions and tools will be introduced to facilitate the teaching of astronomical concepts in a hands-on, activity oriented manner. Become familiar with the Universe that you and your students can explore with telescopes, binoculars, and even the unaided eye. A portable planetarium will be demonstrated.
